Excellent even for something as simple as chicken quesadillas. Outdoor patio is great on a summer night as well.

This is a neat place. The patio dining was great with the fire pit and decor. The chips and salsa and the guacamole were delicious! I would recommend only eating those and eat dinner somewhere else. It's too bad the entrees weren't as great as the appetizers. I ordered the carne asada burrito and it was ok. My girlfriend ordered the cheese enchiladas and she hated them. The cheese was hard and looked like it sat around for over an hour. She was disappointed that they had to put corn in the enchilada and rice. Our waitress was very friendly, also.

Who would've thought some of the most creative and authentic Mexican food could be found in South Dakota? Not this hombre. Having grown up in the Dirty Pueblo (Tucson), we have arguably the best Mexican food on the planet, so my expectations were low at best. I'm glad to say that I was totally wrong. Everything from the salsa, beans, Carne and sauces were all authentic smoky and plentiful. They also have a great tequila selection as well. Great ambiance fills the place and outdoor in the summer is wonderful. Can't wait to go back this weekend.

Had the most amazing delicious tacos. They are the best tacos I have had in ages. Street Tacos with the flank steak. Fantastic! Also have two vegetarians and the selections are amazing, it was great that everyone could have a great meal.

Came to this place while visiting Rapid City. Shocked to find it nearly empty at 11pm on a Friday. I guess that could be because they say they close at 10pm yet they were still open at 11pm. Someone put a lot of time and effort into creating the atmosphere and they nailed the decor. Unfortunately it lacks ambiance thanks to a highly disengaged set of employees and the fact that they play a local radio station for entertainment at the bar (restaurant - more on that later). This place has so much potential, it could be much more than it is. When we asked the bartender about why it was so dead he told us "well it's not a bar, it's a restaurant, if you want a bar scene you should go to a bar". Ironic that the name of this restaurant includes the word "bar" yet it isn't a bar? As previously mentioned - highly disengaged employees. As we sat on the rooftop "Cantina" we felt rushed and had to deal with the bar staff cleaning tables, collapsing umbrellas and giving us the "please leave" look. The food is not authentic Mexican although it's not bad, decent trendy food. We ordered a Patron margarita and a Mojito. Both were served in plastic cups and both were terrible. Had the Mojito re-made by a different bartender, still terrible. Both were made by employees who clearly didn't want to be there. We were hopeful that his place would be much more than it is, such a shame considering how much effort was put into the atmosphere.

Atmosphere is nice, table was wobbly, after being seated for a couple minutes, our server quickly slid chips on our table that knocked over my sons cup. He reached across the table to pour me water and I had to move my phone or he would have dripped water on it. It was about 20 minutes before he asked if my son wanted anything to drink. Seems that there is complete disarray with the service. Looks so unorganized. Our server was literally running. Another server was eating chips at the chip station. Staff hugging each other. Not very professional. I've managed restaurants before and that is unacceptable. The manager walked around table to table. Very nice professional, funny as well. He's also a working manager. Helps out. He was the star of the dinner service. Food is good. Portioned well, lots of good flavor.

I wish I could give this place a higher star rating but the service is so bad that I absolutely can't. I have been to this place quite a few times. You really can't expect much less from a Margarita and Mexican food lover. But the service seems to get worse every time I am in. The last two times I was in there the restaurant was Pretty dead. Yet both times it took me approx 20 minutes to get my margaritas. The food is delicious! But the time to get it and the amount of work it is to track down a server to gat anything else you might need for the meal almost makes it not worth it. A group of friends went not too long ago and one friend wanted some sour cream. After asking about 8 times she finally got it....after she finished her food. But I'm a sucker for some good Mexican food and margaritas. So I will keep going back, hoping the service will one day improve.

In a really great server sodas refilled almost instantly. food is really delicious the only reason it's a four star instead of a five star is because they really don't have any non-spicy items even the items they say aren't spicy are spicy and they're a little heavy on the salt

Stumbled on this place by accident, and glad we dd. Food was fresh, tasty, and very satisfying. Service was friendly and very attentive. Rooftop bar was a plus, as was the option to dine on rooftop. Fire-pit on rooftop is not only a nice touch, but also bonus. We had a terrific experience and the return visit a few days later definitely did not disappoint. Fish tacos were flavorful and surprisingly fresh. Chicken quesadillas (may sound boring) but was also the best we've ever had.

Came for lunch. Dining area was nice but not completely clean, for example... a half empty water bottle was amongst the decor & no staff thought to remove it. Plus a table outside was covered in food crime the night before. There were flies everywhere inside & Food was mediocre at best. Side of guacamole was so spicy we had to return it & I can normally handle spicy. It was also almost black which is weird considering we got there when they opened for the day. Our waitress brought out our drinks & one was for our 2 year old. It was in a large heavy glass & filled to the top. When I asked for a kids cup they didn't have any but she did manage to find a somewhat smaller plastic cup but no lid. Kids meal comes with beans & rice but the rice was so spicy my son couldn't eat it. My husband got fajitas which were ok except the tortillas where overheated & stuck together & obviously not fresh. Also the "recommended tip" was calulated with the tax. We will not be returning to say the least.

Being from California I wouldn't normally eat mexican food in the northern midwest but options are minimal in Rapid City. I will say I was pleasently surprised. Now the food was good but tasted more tex mex to me than anything, and the chips were more of a low level type that you'd buy from the grocery store. However The roof top patio was the highlight for me as well as the service provided by Tyson. This guy was the best bartender/server me and my co worker had experienced in the past four days. Everywhere we went we felt ignored and almost stared at (not alot of darker complected people walking around) but Tyson made us feel at home and we totally enjoyed our time there. We enjoyed it so much we went back for a second time mainly due to Tysons exceptional service which we found was lacking at most of the local spots. 4 stars because no one is perfect.

I was on vacation here in South Dakota with my family and we stopped by at ¿Que Pasa? and it has amazing spicy shrimp tacos that I enjoyed so much. There service was very fast. They also have some amazing selections of food. It was one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to!

I found this place on yelp while I was on vacation with my family. It head over heels exceeded our expectations! Stick to the classics and you can't go wrong. I ordered fajitas with a margarita (it's mostly tequila so 1 and done) my boyfriend got an enchilada and we were both very happy with our meals! Fresh fried tortilla chips with homemade salsa was the icing on the cake for me! The fish tacos were also highly recommend by my mom and sister! Since we go to rapid city almost every summer, I'm sure we'll make this a regular spot for dinner!

This place has excellent food. I had a chicken enchilada and chili relleno. Plenty of chicken in enchilada, chili relleno was BEST I've ever had! Servers/bartenders very friendly.

My husband and I decided to do dinner here this evening. Being a Texan who loves her Tex Mex, I was curious to see what it would be like. We were waited on within minutes of being seated with a friendly smile from our waitress and a fresh bowl of chips and salsa. The salsa was excellent. The two of us split a guacamole dip, which tasted pretty strong of lime, but was freshly made and tasted good. We split the three amigos taco plate, which had one pork taco (our favorite), one brisket taco, and one chicken taco. The plate also included corn cakes, Mexican rice, and refried beans, all of which were tasty. We were well taken care of and had a pleasant dining experience. The atmosphere is also warm and inviting, and made the experience even more enjoyable.

If we had one of these in Austin, I'd be a regular. In town on vacation, this was a wonderful change of pace from the Tex Mex I'm used to. I had the smothered burrito which came on a small cast iron skillet, thankfully without the huge side of refried beans and fried rice that fills the plate in Texas. The food was delicious and flavorful with a rich variety of spices. My wife loved her veggie burrito. Great salsa. Food and service, 5-stars, margarita 3 stars. Maybe I shoulda have just had a shot from the tequila menu.

  • Debra J.

Not a wide variety of Mexican food. The wait staff was great, but the food NOT. We had the chicken enchiladas, Mexican fondue app, and steak fajitas, but all was pretty tasteless! The rice and beans were awful and completely bland. I had a margarita, which I enjoyed - but expensive for the quantity. Nice ambiance, but the food has turned us off a repeat visit.

Family reunion dinner for 31, no problem! Excellent food and great service. All got what they ordered on time and hot. Even though it was on Thursday night which is Summer Nights in Rapid City when the town all comes down to the city square.

We started off with their complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was mild with a little kick. We also ordered the guac which I think was lacking in flavor. I wish it had more lime and salt so I will definitely save my money next time. I'm very picky about my tacos. I like them simple: lettuce, chihuahua cheese, tomatoes and cilantro. This isn't how Que Pasa does it for the Tres Amigos but I did like their style. The three single wrapped corn tortillas were stuffed with steak, pork and chicken separately. The flavor was really good for all of these. Each had a sauce that complimented the flavors. I would have rather had smaller corn tortillas, double wrapped than the single larger tortilla. The rice and beans was nothing to write home about, but that's just me. Although there aren't a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area, this place is doing got right. The manager/owner/someone came around to make sure everything was going well, I like that kind of customer service.

We really enjoy this place. Fantastic outdoor seating makes it ideal for patio drinking. Their margaritas and pina coladas are great. While I'm not a big fan of the sauce they use on their enchiladas, I love their corn cake and taco salad.

If you're into Margs don't miss this place. Also some of best Mexican food have had in a while. Read reviews prior to going & was worried because people questioned service but it was excellent night we went.

This is our go to mexican resturant. The chimichanga and the nachos are the best I have ever had. The margarrita s are made eith fresh juice and the rock especially when there half priced at happy hour.

This place has great mexican food. The wife and I had the Que Pasa Combo. Everything was good but the taco that came with it was delicious! Service was great and the atmosphere is great. Definitely recommend.

The Good: The Chicken Street tacos were pretty good. The Bad: The service and food choices. Seriously.... I asked for beans that didn't have pork, and they didn't have any. Fine, that's cool. Instead, I asked if I could get ANY veggies instead.... something sorta healthy, just not rice or potatoes. The waitress said no problem. When she brought the food, she was like "sorry, we're out of veggies, I brought you extra rice instead." Grrrrrrrrr...... Also messed up another part of my order. Charged me full price anyway, didn't apologize. Another friend was brought the wrong meal, and the waitress proceeded to convince him to eat it anyway. He did, it wasn't what he wanted at all (ordered chicken, got greasy beef -- which the waitress promised was not greasy).

I was looking for a place to eat a late lunch, at 2:30. Amazingly, this is harder than you would think in this neighborhood. Other restaurants in the neighborhood should take notice. I stopped in here because it was open and serving food. I started with a margarita on the rocks (Happy Hour prices - yay!) and chips and salsa. The salsa has a pretty good bite and I like spicy food. I ordered the lunch portion of the brisket enchilada. It's different than any enchilada I've had - first of all, it's crispy, and second, the sauce is served on the side. I guess that's a plus, because you can decide how much you want. It comes with beans and rice. I liked the beans because they weren't totally mashed into a bland pulp, but the rice was pretty plain. I followed up with a strawberry margarita, which I actually liked better than the regular one. The service was great - highly attentive, very pleasant, and even though it wasn't busy, there were other customers and everyone seemed to be enjoying the same attention from the server.

On a road trip, we ended up stuck in Rapid City for 2 hours for a tire repair. Leaving the car, we walked to this place and - wow, I was surprised. I assumed it'd be like any 'Mexican' chain (think azteca), but it was great. The menu isn't as big, but it was amazing. Probably some of the best refried beans I've ever had. Service was quick and friendly and the place is clean and trendy. If I lived remotely close enough to return, I'd make it a frequent lunch spot. Sadly, it's a bit far.

Que Pasa has great food as well as a great atmosphere. The chicken tostada had the perfect blend of flavors and the chicken was marinated well. It was the perfect sized portion and the house margarita was one of the better margaritas I've had. Unfortunately, the young male waiters were awkward and seemed to forget who was doing what.

Ate here last summer it was pretty good, This time not so much, chicken was tasteless. Salsas were just spicy no flavor. No cheese no sour cream, etc., Oh "it" isn't served in Mexico. Well most of this stuff isn't served in Mexico either?? Service was okay, server had tables inside outside, stupid. I find when they make stuff to hot to eat, they don't know what they are doing, just being hot, doesn't make it tasty or edible. Prices I think are high for this area, probably why it's half empty on a Saturday night. This should be the go to place in the area, not the once in a while place, people in Rapid City are fickle they better get it figured out or the place will be done, just like the last few down town.

Beautiful, new restaurant in downtown Rapid City. Friendly and attentive service and pretty good food too. The chips and salsa were a great way to kick it off and we added some queso as well The enchiladas were good, but not great, but the lively atmosphere made up for it for sure.

  • David B.

Alright service, but the food at Que Pasa... isn't very authentic Mexican. To be frank, its white people's idea of what mexican food is. Was it tasty anyway? We didn't think so, but we eat a lot of authentic Mexican at home. So for me, I would have a very hard time choosing to return to eat here when there is fairly authentic Mexican easily obtained at other restaurants in Rapid City.

We are locals and hadn't eaten here for around 6 months. Decided to give it a try again last night. As always the chips and salsa were great. The red sangria tasted stale to me. My entree was the chicken bacon quesadilla with corn tortillas, beans and rice. The quesadilla was very dry and bland. I asked for just some more salsa to put on it and side of guacamole. I got salsa and more chips and guacamole was ok. They needed some kind of flavor. My husband had the fish tacos which he said were good but needed more sauce also. He used to get the enchiladas but they were always cold in the middle. Cheese was not melted. The service was what was the most lacking. She was distracted and standoffish. Spent most of the time "somewhere" not sure where. The restaurant is lovely and the food isn't bad considering how north we are from the border. But service continues to be almost rude. There are a few authentic different ethnic restaurants in town that may be slow when super busy but the staff is always friendly so it doesn't matter. The wait staff should take some lessons from our foreign friends on hospitality. I'm embarrassed for my town.

Finally, a delicious Mexican restaurant up north! Loved the atmosphere. Hubby and I say on the patio and it was very nice. Chips and salsa were good. We split the three amigos plate, which was a variety of 3 soft tacos. I would say the food was upscale Mexican vs traditional. The beef was absolutely delicious! Not chewy like most Mexican food places. The sangria and margaritas are high priced, but yummy. Will be going back while in SD to try their house made tortilla soup.

Really good Mexican food! We found out that this place was a recent addition to the area. The place for being so new, really has it together. I'm not a tequila guy unfortunately (college ruined that), but the place looks to have a massive amount and from what I remember, some pretty good stuff. We started with some guacamole, which was very good, fresh and creamy. The chips were also very good, not the thin kind that cannot take a dipping. For dinner I got The Three Amigos, which is a great dish to try if it's your first time here. It is three tacos, one beef, one chicken, one pork. It gives you a great idea of how everything really is. My favorite was the pork, but don't get me wrong, they were all very good. It also came with rice, refried beans, more guac, and a sweet corn cake. All of which were tasty. Very nice looking place, with a really cool outside patio area. Really nice waitstaff. Great addition to any area.

Good service. Frozen strawberry margarita was the worst I've had. Fajitas weren't good and was charged for dinner not lunch price. Won't be back

Que Pasa? Pues NADA!!! Would not return for the food. The beer and tequila selection were decent. The food was crap, you would be better off going to Taco Bell. I would recommend have drinks and appetizers.

Visiting Rapid city and my coworkers suggested this place. It was awesome. I had the skirt steak fajita and it was amazing. Our server was great he was very attentive. Will definitely be coming back on my next business trip

Drop dead gorgeous restaurant! Lovely ambience. Wait staff upbeat, friendly and knowledgable about choices. I had street tacos with beef, hubby had shrimp fajitas. We were on motorcycles so didn't imbibe but they have a terrific list of tequilas to try. Guacamole is just like I make at home; simple and not overloaded with seasoning which is exactly what I want in a guacamole so as to offset the salsa. We were very satisfied and enjoyed the experience.

This restaurant is a very fresh take on Mexican cuisine. They have really good food and their smoked salsa is a must try! I've always had good service when I've dined here, however, my girlfriend told me that the 3 times she's come here without me that she had the same server every time and he was a terrible server. I'm a fan of the place, I've always had good service and definitely recommend it to anyone swinging through Rapid. Gotta try the three amigos!

Que pasa mi comida? We were driving by on main street looking for a different place when we all noticed Que Pasa. What a spectacular outside patio! Uh oh! What a mistake. Better heed the previous reviews posted here. The first thing we noticed was all the un-bussed tables on the upstairs outdoor patio. Maybe they were missing some staff? Just not something that gives you a good feeling when you sit down to eat. Suggests a lack of attention to detail and possibly poor management. The food, when its the correct order, is OK. Below average for sure. Definitely not crafted by anyone who specializes in Mexican food. I know because my Wife is in the restaurant biz. We ordered a tostada salad without tomatoes. It came with tomatoes. We ordered a beef nachos: it came with chicken without the jalapeños, not to mention the canned nacho cheese sauce like you get at the ballpark. Oh well, i can kinda live with that. When we mentioned the mistakes, we were made to feel like "maybe we made a mistake" and "are you sure thats what the menu said?" C'mon. I can live with quite a bit but I need to feel like they are trying to make the situation correct. And that was the true failure here. we were presented with a full bill and the food was never correct.

The ambiance and drinks at Que Pasa are good, but the Mexican food is average at best with very "chain restaurant" flavors. In addition, the food consistency is hit or miss...I had to return my tortilla soup recently to warm it up since it was only lukewarm, and my son's refried beans were barely warm. This is a good place for drinks and an appetizer but skip it for the main meal....

Great lunch spot while visiting Rapid City. I had the chicken quesadilla which was served with a side of pickled onions (yum!) and topped with fried jalapeños. Others in my party had chicken fajitas and a chimichanga. Complimentary chips (warm, but average) and salsa (delicious) were served and refilled without prompting. Nice decor. Outdoor seating was available.

Ok, It's only getting 3 stars because I am a mexican from TExas! I mean...there is truly no place here in rapid city that serves authentic mexican food. You have to go down south for that folks...but I digress. Ok, so the food was ok and the atmosphere was colorful(as it should be) the staff was very friendly! I had the fajitas, they were ok I expected the meat to be better, the beans were ok. I was a little puzzled at the cornbread in my food? I didn't order cornbread. I don't know, I won't be back here...I am sure this place has it's fans but to me it is just another wanna be mexican food Restaurant

The best carnitas I have tasted outside of Southern California. The weather was beautiful so we sat out on the patio. Nice setting and a great night out with my wife. I will definitely be going back.

I was in Rapid City for a Traffic Bowl convention, and I had a brief time for some food. Que Pasa's atmosphere was very cool and friendly. Their Tequila selection was top notch. I got the street tacos off the lunch menu, and they were very delicious. A bit small portion, but the free chips and salsa made up for it. Overall, enjoyable Mexican food in a not-so Mexican part of the country.

The style of this restaurant and the clearly non-ethnic staff make it clear from the start that one won't be eating authentic Mexican food. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, and we enjoyed our dinner. They were very busy on a Monday night (as was all of downtown...Rapid City has a lot going on!), so we enjoyed drinks on the rooftop deck while we waited for a table. It was my first encounter with Firehouse pale ale (excellent!)... and the chips and salsa were fresh and really tasty. After about 20 minutes (less time than we were told it would take), we got an outside table. We ordered an ultimate burrito and a quesadilla. Both were fresh and flavorful (if not "como tu madre los hizo"), the service was prompt and friendly and the price was very reasonable. With the right expectations, it's a good place for a casual dinner.

Stopped here after a long day on the road for appetizers & a beer. I recommend the chips & salsa as well as the guacamole. The calamari was ok, but I don't think I'd order it again. The kids liked the strawberry slushies. Quote: "This is real!" The atmosphere of this place (which used to be a Spanish restaurant, is warm, modern & inviting. The prices, however, seemed a bit high for what we got..,

My husband and I ate here after having a poor experience at another restaurant down the block (I think they may actually be connected via owners or something like that) and it turned out to be a good thing. Typical Mexican restaurant decor, with big open areas around the bar and lots of seating near windows so you can watch what's going on downtown. We had good service. Food and drinks came out quickly. We both had margaritas. They have a good selection of tequilas. I will say that they margarita was a bit too sweet for our taste. I do believe that the majority of people like their margaritas sweet though. Chips were warm and made there. Salsa was yummy and fresh. My husband had the Carne Asada Burrito and what ever they do to cook that meat is so good. It was so smoky and tender. Oh, and pretty huge. I had the chicken quesadilla with a green sauce and it was also very good. Loved it. I was bummed they didn't have any chile rellenos, especially since there seemed to be a bunch of things with poblanos or poblano sauce, but oh well. Although we didn't eat them, they did have fajitas, tortas, an enchilada, and a chimichanga on the menu also.

We decided to stop in on our way back to Wisconsin after visiting Yellowstone for the week. Little did we know that we would have the best Mexican food of our lives! Not one negative thing can be said about our experience. We were told a 45 minute wait and got seated in 20 min. The staff was very friendly, and we immediately felt welcome. Margaritas were fantastic, we had the strawberry basil and joy of summer and the food was above and beyond anything I have ever had! chips and salsa are homemade and you can definitely tell! I ordered the rotisserie chicken and it did not disappoint. My only concern is that I will no longer be able to enjoy any other Mexican restaurants because this place was so awesome! Prices aren't that bad either, if your on town you have to go here!

I had the carne asada burrito. A mouthful of flavors in one big burrito topped with jalapenos, sour cream and other amazing ingredients. Service was pretty decent, plenty of dinning space. Restaurant was really nice, including a heated outdoor dinning area. Similar to On The Border restaurant. Must Try!!

The food is not Mexican at all. If you're from California you'll know what I mean. Don't order the carnitas, it's just pulled pork slow cooked in soda (lacked flavor). Also the calamari us extremely over cooked. The hostess was rude and when I sent in a complaint they don't even respond. Unprofessional since employees drink at the bar during service.

The atmosphere was perfect. Our server Leon was superb, knowledgeable and efficient. Guacamole perfectly spiced. Homemade salsa (smoky and regular) best I've had. Queso cheese fondue was a delight. Prices are very reasonable. Its a brand new restaurant so it's very busy and there is a wait. They are still working out the bugs - as would be expected for any hot, new restaurant.

My friend and I stopped by Que Pasa to have dinner. The food was pretty good, although without any "wow" factor. Pollo poblano that I ordered was slightly undercooked, but tasted good. The place was quite packed with people, which, in my opinion, was a sign that it has a decent reputation among locals. It looked like Que Pasa gears more towards people who come there to have a drink rather than a solid dinner. That being said, Que Pasa would probably be not on my list of places that I would re-visit for dinner.

Visited twice now. The drinks here are AMAZING. Best margarita I've had in years, and my friend's watermelon-cucumber mojito was simply genius. The food was definitely more like gourmet Tex-Mex than "authentic street" Mexican, but for that it was really good. The salsa was freshly made--everything except the chips seemed legitimately fresh, and since they're just a vehicle for getting the salsa to your mouth it seemed like a minor problem. There are NO vegetarian items on this menu. I had a chicken quesadilla minus the chicken; unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, I got cheese and tortilla. I asked the waitress to bring me the sauce and "lime crema" that they usually put on and it got even tastier (not sure what they put in that cheese, but it was yummy). The beans and rice seemed fresh and not overly greasy, which was a nice change for me (I am usually not a fan of "Spanish" rice). The assistant general manager, Myron (I think), a transplant from Jamaica via California, came up and entertained my two friends and me for about 15 minutes, which helped make it an even more fun experience. The decor was gorgeous. To start, there were hollow, copper-colored columns at the front entrance that were carved so that you could see the blue flames coming from the gas heater inside. The walls were "stucco," the lighting fixtures looked like hand-made wrought iron; everything felt clean and sophisticated. I'm going to go back again, no question. But as others have warned, do not mistake this for your average Mexican restaurant.

They gave my wife's food to another table and set mine in front of me. 14 minutes later her food was delivered with mine rotting away on the table. Then they shamelessly charged us full price.

LOVED the atmosphere (!!!) and the food was great EXCEPT for the tortilla soup. Tasted like they dropped the salt shaker in it! Three of us at the table were unable to eat it. When we mentioned it to the waitress, she just seemed bewildered and said, "I don't know.... It's from a MIX." Yeek

Not a "traditional" Mexican but the right type of place for downtown. Only had the carne asada burrito but it was good with quality meat of good flavor. The beans inside we're a little bland. The burrito could have used some heat to complement the sour creamish drizzle. Very large portion I think would be better served with less beans inside the burrito and maybe a little rice. Good salsas and chips. Maybe a 3.5 but I'll call it close to 4. Tad on the expensive, but I think in line with the location and atmosphere.

Amazing food and service! Patio area super cool and all dishes plated very nicely. Would frequent this place if I didn't live in Colorado Springs.

I went in between lunch and dinner when it was quite slow. The server was nice, friendly and very pregnant! She did good! I had the Tres Amigo's like on the picture above. Very good flavors of Mehico. The decor is over the top. The XX's lager draft is really good!

Very impressed for my first experience. Chips and salsa were fresh. Service was excellent. Food arrived hot, fresh, and and largely portioned. Everything was reasonably priced. Would Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something different!

I had the queso fundido, not the typical actual Mexican queso fundido, but still tasty. Decent prices for the portions of normal Mexican food found up north. The best thing about the place is the tequila!!! They have amazing fresh ingredients that make the food worth the wait and trip. They use an IPAD to text you when ready to seat! Worth the stop, great variety of dishes and vast amounts of any tequila your heart desires. Beautifully decorated!!!

The food was excellent. I could not have been more happier with the Enchilada Soup. It was like a party in my mouth. And I really wanted to rate this place higher, but I could not enjoy my food because I kept getting dive bombed by a squadron of flies. And then when I said something to the server her response was terrible. Most of the other prices were also a little pricey.

Jeez I want to like this place. Being a prodigal international son now returned local I was hopeful the replacement of Manchegos with its urban chic decor and tapas for which our town had not matured to would be replaced with something as funky and with similar challenging appeal though acceptable to the oft times untested local palate. A Mexican restaurant was a good call by the Firehouse dynasty inspired management in that historically this town's acceptance of ethnic foods hesitates to go beyond the pre-legionnaires disease Casa del Ray with its inexplicably hugely popular inspired way-north-of-south-of-the-border "Mexican" cuisine (YUCK) and of course the ubiquitous though rather pedestrian Chinese fare in every sector of town. So, much money was spent to make this gorgeous eatery at lovley revival Main Street corner (I still remember the auto tire store) and I was excited! But, unfortunately, and maybe the stars are just not aligned each time I go there, each visit has only been a disappointment. Granted I have only gone there maybe a half dozen times over the 1 1/2 years since opening but that itself is a ding of no confidence because we eat out frequently. The food has been hit and miss at best though at times enjoyed-tres tacos, yum Always, always skip the salmon; I have been a very slow learner on this score. The salsa served with chips though rather watery has a fairly good zing to it-usually my predictor of rather what is to come is more south than north-but not to be. The margaritas while unique to our usual fare seem tepid and are spendy for a single shot of well tequila (can't believe some of us thought the tapas were too expensive but we are willing to chunk out the same amount for these drinks). The service is also unpredictable. When first opened you could tell everyone came out with a PhD in hospitality but memory fades. This evening my wife and I decided to give them another go. At 6:00pm it was as empty as I have seen the place so I thought good for us. Quiet with quick service. No. Quiet to a fault as in "hello, over here, we'd like to order". Zoey our server tried very hard but maybe to a fault when she explained the reason we were still sitting waiting for our meal whilst 2 other parties arriving 15 to 20 minutes after us were well into their dinner was because the salmon (there I go again, why do we order salmon here? guess it was my wife's turn) was being "cooked to perfection". So here's the deal with this, at the risk of cooking hubris, I'm a wanna be "gourmet" chef and previously was even a commercial salmon fisherman in Alaska so if any one knows salmon I think I can claim some aptitude. Doesn't take 45 minutes to prepare, nor 30, nor 20 nor 15 for that matter. Anyways it was putrid and inedible so we got our check and went to Murphys for double shot cocktails and desert. Now feeling better. Tomorrow back to Everest Cuisine and if I'm wanting real Mexican will go to Sabors and enjoy a Corona.

I heard great things and read great reviews about this place so I tried it out. I ordered the Kick Ass margarita after the bartender recommended it. I watched him make it and sighed a little when I saw him short pour the tequila. The juice mix was good in it, but there was hardly any tequila flavor. I ordered a shot of tequila to add to it, and the bar tender poured it way below the shot line on the glass. Very disappointing. Now to the food. The chips and salsa were not at all impressive. Both looked like they came straight out of the bargain aisle in the grocery store. I ordered the Three Amigos Tacos and they cam out very fast. I soon found out why. The beans tasted and looked like what you'd buy at the grocery store and just dump out of the can. A tasteless blob of starch. The rice looked like Uncle Ben's and was another tasteless pile of starch. However, the tacos were great! That's the only good thing I have to say about their food. The charged $.99 extra for guacamole! Mexican food is supposed to be served with guacamole!!! But it was good. The decode inside was nice and so was the atmosphere. But since the food was very unimpressive, pick somewhere else that has more pride in what they serve.

Very good menu! Food has a slight twist on traditional Mexican dishes with lots of flavor and seasonings. Two different salsas with chips as a free appetizer. Three amigos dish was very good and it gives you the opportunity to try different meats. We've been three times already! Inside can be loud, but the outside atmosphere was very nice.

  • Dave E.

Family reunion dinner for 31, no problem! Excellent food and great service. All got what they ordered on time and hot. Even though it was on Thursday night which is Summer Nights in Rapid City when the town all comes down to the city square.

    (4)
  • Timothy M.

Just had a chance to come to Rapid City again, and well visit this new restauraunt. Of course its really hard to get to Los Angeles standards on Mexican food, but this place is clearly missing alot of the ethnicity when it comes to the food. First before we speak about the food let me comment on the Hostess staff, its clear they want a younger audience but I think its pushing it when they are like teenagers and have little attitudes, I think the Front House of a Restauraunt is where you need to be friendly and the attitude was clearly not called for. Second of all we were going to be sat in the corner of the bar area when I had a small child with me, I think this was another no no..put us where other families are or at least in the atomosphere of the restaturant, we had to ask to move. Second, had to use the restroom facilities, and I think when a place has only been open for barely a month, you should keep this place cleaned, sure enough can get busy but for a nice restauraunt with toliet paper on the floors and flies coming out of the drains not sure if this is a good quality to have... I think for a brand new restauruant you should have quality standards, and I think lacking this in Employee, Food and Drink Prices and Standards, and also Restroom Facilies, I am not sure I think that covers the whole restauruant tho... Just my opinion or maybe I came on a odd day...

We were in town on vacation from Chicago and we fell into this place. Wasn't sure what to expect but it ended up being excellent!!!!! The staff was very friendly also! I would recommend this to anyone in the area! Had a great experience. I had the carne Asada burrito was the best I've ever had. My dad had the brisket tota and also said it was excellent. The rest of the group Also enjoyed everything they ordered!!!!!!

Finally, a Mexican restaurant that is fresh and not afraid of flavor! Over 50 different tequilas, excellent margaritas, and delicious food come together in what is sure to be Rapid City's next popular restaurant. I want to emphasize that everything is fresh and not from a can or package, and you can really tell the difference. The rotisserie chicken is highly recommended, as is the brisket. Please note that the doors facing out to main street are not entrances. I think they'll probably remedy that in the future, but in the meantime people will be confused. Just walk through the patio and look for the smiling senoritas with menus holding the door open. Also, although doors open at 4pm, they don't seat until 4:30/5pm. So that means chilling out at the bar, which isn't bad. The margaritas are all on the rocks, just how they should be. I asked the manager about lunch, and he told me they'll be expanding into lunch hours later this summer.

  • Dave B.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
